I am the Nth Generation – Joshua Davis

Learn more about Nth's most important asset – its people.

What’s your job title? Project Manager

How many years have you been with Nth? 6.5

What does a typical day for you at Nth look like? I am currently the main resource on the Project Management team for all Security projects. Chrissie Stubbs (Bid & Project Manager) and Maxx Blason (Project Manager) support me with overfill. I am also one of the main SOW (statement of work) approval reviewers at Nth. My typical day consists of balancing our Security Engineers on multiple projects to make sure we stay on track from a customer perspective and protect the Engineers from overscheduling. I review almost all SOWs for any service that runs through Nth, including Manufacturing services, 3rd party services, and Nth services.

Which fellow Nth’er(s) inspire you and why? I have many Nth’ers that inspire me daily and have been instrumental in not only my personal life, but also my career. Ferdi Tatad (Manager, Services Solutions & PMO) has been an amazing friend and mentor for me for the past 6 years. He is a true leader that walks the walk. The entire PM team inspires me. Chrissie Stubbs (Bid & Project Manager) has taught me nearly everything I know; Maxx Blason (Project Manager) has a level of detail unmatched; Renee Sanshu (PM Consultant) has elevated me through her elegance in tackling project fires; and finally, Nathan Russell (Project Coordinator &Warehouse Admin) has inspired me by his positive attitude and willingness to assist whenever and wherever. Dan Molina (Co-President, Security & Marketing, CTO) and Sara Galloway (Sr. Director, Marketing) have also been key in my success at Nth. Dan always supports new ideas and always has time to take my calls. I’m convinced Sara is my long-lost sister. She has inspired me to tackle anything head on. I could go on and on about nearly everyone at Nth. Truly the whole team inspires me.

What led you to this career/working at Nth? My story is somewhat unique. I started at Nth as a temporary employee working the front desk and making coffee! I supported many departments at Nth before landing in PM. Project Management is about fostering relationships with your fellow coworkers and clients. I get a front row seat to watch our talented Security/Engineering teamwork their magic.

What’s one of your favorite things about your job? Getting to work with our PM Team. We’ve all become great friends and I see each of them as family. The work can be stressful but when you get to work with talented people who truly care for your success, it changes everything.

What motivates you at work? My team is what motivates me at work. Being able to contribute and add value to the team gives me motivation.

What was your first job? My first job was working for a grocery store as a “Courtesy Clerk”, aka bagging groceries. I was 15 years old.

What is the best career advice you’ve received? Balance. It's important to balance your work and home life. Burn out is real and if you don’t take care of yourself, you cannot expect to perform at the highest level.

What is your favorite place that you’ve travelled to? So far Japan is my favorite place I’ve visited outside of the country.

What is your favorite movie and/or book? All things Star Wars.

Describe your ideal weekend. Spending time with my wife and daughters.

What 3 items would you bring with you to a deserted island? Sunglasses, beach chair, piña colada.

What is your perfect meal? Ramen.

What do you like to do for fun? Fly-fishing at a local river/lake or driving on canyon roads in my car.

What was your first concert? Rolling Stones/Metallica at Candle Stick Park in SF.
