What’s your job title? FileMaker & Business Applications Developer

How long have you been with Nth? 1 month

Which fellow Nth’er(s) inspire you and why? Everyone, really! Nth is full of highly intelligent and passionate individuals who have welcomed me in like family. Everyone has been so open with their knowledge and have taught me so much already. I feel inspired every day by the people around me.

What led you to this career/working at Nth? The stars aligned. I had taken some time off work in 2023 and was just starting to explore the job market again when I saw the posting from Nth for a full-time FileMaker & Business Applications developer. I fell in love with FileMaker development in my previous job of 6 years, so as soon as I saw the posting, I was certain that this was my dream job.

What are some of your favorite things about your job? One of my favorite things about my job is that I am able to focus and specialize in the work that I’m the most excited about – anything and everything related to FileMaker. There is ample opportunity to learn and grow which makes this job highly rewarding and so much fun.

What motivates you at work? Using my skills as a FileMaker developer to help the team do their jobs more efficiently! I love it when I can use the capabilities of FileMaker to work magic. Automating repetitive; manual; and tedious processes, or to simply reduce the number of steps it takes to get from point A to point B to make someone’s work life that much easier. Those are the kinds of tasks that motivate me and excite me!

What was your first job? Scanning and digitizing paper documents for an imaging company.

What is your favorite place that you’ve travelled to? Nova Scotia. It was only one day on a cruise from Quebec to Boston, but the beauty and culture there left a deep impression on me. I would absolutely love to go back for an extended trip to explore so much more!

What is your favorite movie? Favorite book? It’s difficult to name just one! Some of my top picks for movies right now include Mad Max: Fury Road, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Glass Onion, Spirited Away, Cars, and Rogue One. As for books, my recent favorites include the Star Wars: Darth Bane trilogy by Drew Karpyshyn, anything by Brandon Sanderson, and We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis E. Taylor.

Describe your ideal weekend. Curling up on the couch with my hubby and two pups and bingeing a really good show.

What famous person or historical figure would you most like to meet and why?    Roberta Williams. One of the earliest games that I can remember getting really invested in was Kings Quest V, and Sierra On-Line games left a huge impact on my early gaming experience during the late 80s and early 90s. I adored point & click adventure games, and being able to speak with her about her experiences in the industry and her process of game design would be amazing.

What do you like to do for fun? Taking the dogs out for a jaunt on a beautiful day, getting lost in a good video game, and socializing with friends for some tabletop gaming (Magic the Gathering, Pathfinder, or other assorted board games).
