Elegant Abstract Background

NETWORKING
DATA CENTER

Data Centers have changed, they don’t simply exist at one or two locations in the Enterprise, they are now also in the Cloud and in Co-Location facilities. Having the Data Center in multiple locations is changing the way we are building the Data Center Network.

Security, Availability, and Flexibility are among the top concerns for Data Centers today.

Data Center

OVERVIEW

How it Works

New Security challenges are affecting the data center as well, the requirement to segment and secure applications from being accessed by unauthorized people or devices and from Malware is a top priority. Things like Segmentation, Firewalls, and IPS/IDS's devices are critical.

Another common need in the Data Center is to build an underlying network to allow for Automation and Mobility that an Overlay network can provide so the Core network needs to support High Availability. The Fabric needs to always be up and running.

New technologies have been developed to help with these challenges like VMware NSX (Overlay, Firewall, Automation), IP Fabrics, SPB Fabrics (Shortest Path Bridging), ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure), and VXLAN.

WHY YOU NEED DATA CENTERS

Communication

Being able to communicate with Data Centers in the Cloud as well as on premises and in Co-location facilities requires newer technologies designed for this purpose.

Securing your Data Center form Malware or bad actors is essential to prevent loss of intellectual property, customer information, and money from Ransomware.

You need a solid Data Center design for VM mobility, security, Disaster Recovery, Automation to seamlessly work between Data Centers.

BENEFITS OF SD-WAN

#1

Need for Security, Automation, Disaster Recovery

#2

Simplify moves workloads

#3

More Security by Micro Segmentation

YOU MUST BE WONDERING:

My Data Center runs fine, why would I want to add complexity of Segmentation?

Switches rarely fail these days, why would I want to spend all the extra money for redundancy?

VMware licensing is expensive, is there any other way to segment and secure my Data Center?
